The 13th annual Patrick Warburton Celebrity Golf Tournament, known as The Warburton, broke another record this past weekend, raising an extraordinary $4.7 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® – bringing the total raised in this Palm Desert-based 4-day event to more than $26.5 million.
The Warburton was held February, 23-26, 2023 – with music events at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa and a golf tournament hosted on two courses – Desert Willow and Classic Club. Sold-out events included a Songwriters Night, the Rheneypalooza Jam, a Saturday Soiree dinner and auction, and the golf tournament.
Approximately 75 stars, songwriters and rock legends joined golfers and other attendees for a weekend of golf and one-of-a-kind music events benefiting St. Jude. The weekend kicked off with Songwriters Night Thursday evening, featuring 4 Nashville songwriters sharing the stories behind some of their biggest hits; the Rheneypalozza Jam held Friday night, with a number of rock legends from the 70s, 80s and 90s performing some of their top singles – including surprise performances by British rocker, John Payne of the band, Asia, and former lead singer of Journey, Steve Augeri; the red-carpet gala dinner and auction known as the Saturday Soiree; and the celebrity golf tournament, which quickly sold out 56 teams last fall, bringing in 300 golfers from around the country as well as the Coachella Valley.
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Because of events like The Warburton, St. Jude can provide cutting-edge treatments not covered by insurance, at no cost to families. When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood cancer was considered incurable. Since then, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate from 20% to more than 80%, and won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
Tournament host, actor Patrick Warburton – best known for playing Puddy on Seinfeld as well as the star of the syndicated sitcom Rules of Engagement, the voice of Joe on Family Guy and numerous roles in movies like Ted and Ted 2, The Tick and Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove as well as Netflix’s Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events – brings together his celebrity friends to highlight a star-studded weekend in the desert that benefits the kids of St. Jude.
